10 questions with Chiny Logan

How did you get into creating music?

I was always super interested in music from as young as I can remember. I initially started violin lessons because I was obsessed - but then my violin teacher left and a friend of mine had started learning Guitar. So I begged for lessons and started learning Guitar around the age of 8. A family friend also was giving Piano lessons so I jumped on that train as well. One day my Guitar teacher taught us chords, and from then on I was constantly sitting up in my bedroom writing songs.

Where do you get your inspirations from ?

I get my inspiration from a lot of places. First and foremost from my life experiences. Relationships with people or specific events. However I also love to be inspired through other peoples art, other music, movies, books etc. Currently I’m really inspired by Jeremy Zucker and Lykke li.

Use three words to describe your music!

Lyrically-driven, moody, dreamy.

What’s your favourite song of yours and why?

It’s hard to pick, but I think my all-time favourite song of mine is Morning. It’s the first song I ever put on Spotify, and it was the first song I really produced on Logic. I remember I just got the DAW, and had a rough version of Morning I had written months prior. I just messed around on Logic and was astounded by all the cool new sounds and features I had at my finger tips. I put it into logic in about 20 minutes. It’s a really simple production, and I had no idea what I was doing, but it holds a special place.

Tell us one artist you are listening to right now!

Right now I’m listening to a lot of HONNE.

Who would you like to collaborate with the most?

It would be my dream to collaborate with Jeremy Zucker.

Where is your favourite place you have ever performed?

I haven’t performed a lot, but when I was a teenager I randomly got the opportunity to perform at Electric Avenue in Brixton. It was super random, but totally cool.

Where is the one place you dream of performing?

I would dream of performing, where I went to see most of my concerts growing up - at the 02 Academy Brixton. It would feel super full circle.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?

I’m looking forward to releasing more music, and getting to express myself more.

What are you working on next?

I’m constantly writing songs and DEMOs, and we have a few lined up :)
